Truss Raising at New Grand Prairie Professional Baseball Stadium
Three Steel Trusses Hoisted

Grand Prairie, TX-(March 17, 2008)-Three (3) steel trusses will be hoisted by Hill & Wilkinson, Ltd., general contractor for the new Grand Prairie AirHogs Ballpark.  Each truss spans 69' 4' with a 38' 8" height at the top of the truss from the ground.  Each truss weighs 5 1/2 tons or 11,000 pounds for a total of 33,000 pounds. The stadium was designed by architect SPARKS Sports, a division of Crafton Tull Sparks in Tulsa, OK.

Grand Prairie residents voted in 2007 to fund the Ballpark with a 1/8 cent sales tax. The city-owned facility is home to a privately owned American Association of Professional Baseball team, the Grand Prairie AirHogs. AirHogs is a World War II term for the pilots who loved to fly so much they "hogged the air." Opening game is May 16, 2008.
