Rogers High School Sophomore Campus - Rogers, AR
The spatial relationships of this facility were developed to facilitate an instructional model based on “small learning/instructional communities” called SLICs. The new 160,000 square foot facility supports this progressive teaching model by incorporating classroom “pods” - eight groups of four core curriculum classrooms, all joined by loop corridors. The wings of the classroom pods align with a shared central core consisting of a media center, foreign language classrooms, and art and workforce education spaces. Structurally, the facility promotes a sleek, modern image that is both appealing and cost-effective. The main corridors of the school were widened to 18 feet to accommodate student lockers and the construction features block corridor walls, terrazzo floors in the public spaces, epoxy wall coatings and epoxy lab tops to facilitate building maintenance.
