St. Paul United Methodist Church - Muskogee, OK
Originally built in 1924, the sanctuary and related buildings of this Gothic-style St. Paul United Methodist Church were destroyed after a Christmas Day fire in 1991. The new facility required a large space for gathering and a worship space for 600-700 people. The new facility also includes a fellowship hall, youth department, library, administrative offices and a parlor. The new buildings were designed and connected to avoid the appearance of “adding on,” while still creating a comfortable warm atmosphere. Each building functions with 20th Century practicality while still retaining the emotional and spiritual elements that are found in classic Gothic Style buildings. Heating, ventilation, acoustics and air conditioning are just a few elements in the church that were not typically addressed in traditional Gothic buildings.
