Interstate 40 Rehabilitation - Pope, Faulkner, Johnson, and Conway Counties, AR
The rehabilitation of Interstate 40 required extensive maintenance of traffic plans to ensure the safe, efficient flow of traffic throughout the construction projects on the heavily traveled interstate. In addition, the design for these projects was completed on a compressed timeline, allowing the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) to meet its construction schedule, which was critical to the flow of bond funding. Crafton Tull Sparks provided the engineering services for the design of six AHTD Interstate Bond Program projects as part of a joint venture. During these projects, the existing concrete pavement will be rubblized and overlaid with asphalt, and all the roadside safety features will be replaced. In addition, several pairs of main bridge structures will be replaced and three bridges will be jacked to provide minimum vertical clearances over existing roadways.
