Union Multipurpose Activity Center

Crafton Tull, in collaboration with DSA Sports, provided a feasibility study/market and financial analysis, as well as eventual architectural and interior design services for the Union Multipurpose Activity Center (UMAC). Included in this 150,000-square-foot facility is the John Q. Hammons Arena, which can seat 5,660 in stadium-style seating or retract to approximately 2,800 fixed seats. The arena design includes a multifunctional floor space for intramural and competitive sports, band concerts, banquets, trade shows, and student gatherings. Additional spaces in the center include break-out areas, ticketing, a spirit store, concessions, restrooms, storage, offices, lockers, and meeting rooms. The UMAC also houses the Southcrest Wellness and Sports Medicine Center, which provides cardiovascular, strength and conditioning facilities, an indoor running track, aerobic exercise spaces as well as healthy lifestyle programs for students, staff, and community.
