Highway 65 Bypass - Pine Bluff, AR
Crafton Tull Sparks was responsible for all surveying; preliminary and final design of all roadways; all hydraulic calculations; and design of the drainage structures of this joint venture project. A major terminal interchange was designed at each end of the 11-mile section of four lane bypass. Six split-diamond-type interchanges with twin main-line bridges were implemented between the two terminal interchanges. The bypass crosses over four minor arterial streets, one railroad, and four stream locations. The bridges at these crossing are all twin-line structures composed of prestressed, precast concrete beams with substructures of pile-supported, reinforced concrete bents or trestles. In addition to the eight major interchanges, the project also included several large culverts. These culverts, varying in size up to a multi-cell, ten by ten culvert, cross under the main lanes and service roads.
